An ACT Road Policing operation targeting anti-social driving behavior on the weekend has seen 35 traffic infringement notices (TINs) and 13 defect notices issued.

During the operation, which took place in suburbs including Braddon and Florey, police detected vehicles that had been lowered beyond the required standard, vehicles with bald tyres, and vehicles with engine components protruding from the bonnet,

The TINs were issued for a variety of offences including driving without headlights on, and not maintaining a vehicle safe to drive. A 65-year-old Watson man who had never held a licence was also found to be driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

Police also conducted 350 random breath tests, which identified four drivers in excess of the legal alcohol limit, who will be summonsed to court at a later date. One of those drivers was an 18-year-old Queanbeyan (NSW) man holding a provisional licence, whose right to drive in the ACT had been suspended for a similar offence in March.

Police urge anyone in the community with information about anti-social driving behavior to report it. Anyone who may have such information, including dash-cam or other video footage should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
