Disqualified driver caught drink and drug driving

ACT Policing arrested a 43-year-old Evatt woman for drink driving in Evatt yesterday (Wednesday 8 June).

About 12.50pm, a vehicle came to the attention of police patrolling in Evatt.

Police approached the vehicle and the driver underwent a roadside screening test for alcohol and drugs, returning a positive indication to both. The woman was identified as a disqualified driver, and therefore subject to a blood alcohol limit of 0.00.

The woman was transported to Belconnen Police Station where she underwent breath analysis, returning a result of 0.015. She also returned a positive drug indication, which is subject to a final confirmation by a laboratory test.

The woman was arrested and conveyed to ACT Watch House.

The 43-year-old woman has been charged with drink driving, drug driving, driving while disqualified, using an unregistered/suspended vehicle and possessing a declared substance without authorisation. She will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
