Don’t be stupid – if drinking don’t drive

Drink Driving

ACT Policing is reminding Canberrans there are no excuses for drink or drug driving.

Police will have a high-visibility presence on ACT roads conducting both targeted and random breath tests on drivers this weekend.

Officer in Charge of Road Policing, Detective Inspector Marcus Boorman said with two grand finals and Spring Carnival racing this weekend, if you plan to go out and have a good time, find alternative transport home.

“We want Canberrans to have fun and enjoy themselves celebrating, but don’t go over the top,” Detective Inspector Boorman said.

“We will be targeting antisocial behaviour and anyone driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

“Our simple message is that if you choose to drink, then do it responsibly and find alternative ways home. There are plenty of public transport options in the ACT and they’re all better than gambling with your safety or licence.

“Police will be in locations across Canberra conducting both targeted and random breath tests on drivers. If you take the risk of driving under the influence, you will get caught.”
