Drugs and weapons seized in Kaleen

ACT Policing has seized drugs, firearms, ammunition and suspected stolen property during the search of a residence in Kaleen last night (Tuesday 15 September).

About 8.40pm, ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations Crime Targeting team executed a search warrant under section 187 of the Drugs of Dependence Act 1989 at a residence in Kaleen.

During the search, police located and seized approximately 200 grams of a substance suspected to be methylamphetamine (ice), a similar quantity of compressed cannabis head and a sum of cash. These items were found hidden throughout the property, concealed within items including modified oxygen cylinders.

Police located and seized a shortened .22 calibre rifle and a sawn off shotgun, along with more than 700 rounds of ammunition, including 22 magnum rounds and shotgun cartridges. The ammunition had been concealed in a large modified acetylene gas cylinder.

Police also seized several items of suspected stolen property including laptops, jewelry and watches. Two vehicles, a late model Holden utility and a Kia hatchback, were seized from the residence as proceeds of crime.

Police arrested a 36-year-old Kaleen man at the residence during the execution of the warrant.

Investigations are ongoing.
