Drugs, weapons and cash seized in Wanniassa search warrant

ACT Policing has arrested a 32-year-old Bonython man after executing a search warrant on a residence in Wanniassa yesterday morning (Monday, 17 March).

About 6.20am, members from ACT Policing’s southside Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on a home and seized a small bag containing a white crystalline substance, believed to be methylamphetamine and a glass smoking pipe.

A member of ACT Policing's Firearms Identification and Armoury team attended the location and identified a firearm as a .32 calibre revolver and ammunition which was seized by police.

At the premises, officers also located and seized weaponry including a knife and a sword. A computer, a safe and a sum of cash were also seized.

At the completion of the warrant the man was arrested and conveyed to Tuggeranong Police Station.

The man has been charged with possession of quantity of drugs, possessing stolen property and firearms offences.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

Police will oppose bail.

This result means another firearm off our streets as the ACT Illicit Firearms campaign progresses.
