Father and son to face court over Taylor nail gun attack

A 49-year-old man and his 20-year-old son will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged in relation to a nail gun attack in Taylor.

Police will allege that about 11pm on Saturday, 21 November, the two men armed themselves with nail guns and left their residence on McCredie Street to confront a group of people who were having a party at another residence in the street.

The pair is believed to have fired several nails at the group and the other residence, before the 49-year-old man allegedly shot a 40-year-old man in the head with a nail from close range.

The victim and the two alleged offenders then had a brief struggle before the victim and his group retreated inside their residence, at which time the alleged offenders also returned to their residence.

Police attended a short time later and found the 40-year-old man with an injury to his forehead, as well as a large number of nails from a nail gun around the front of the residence and in the street.

The alleged offenders were arrested at their residence, and are expected to face court today. The 49-year-old man has been charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm, act endangering life, and possess offensive weapon. The 20-year-old man has been charge with possess offensive weapon and affray.
