Gungahlin man charged with fraud and firearms offences

A 36-year-old Gungahlin man has been charged with a number of offences following the execution of a search warrant overnight.

Last night (Friday, 26 March 2021) police received a report of a vehicle that was allegedly fraudulently obtained earlier in the week, parked under an apartment building in Gungahlin.

The victim reported that following the sale of her vehicle last week, the funds purported to have been transferred to her never arrived.

Police sought search warrants and early this morning located the vehicle in an apartment complex carpark and an unregistered firearm in an upstairs apartment.

A 36-year-old Gungahlin resident was charged with obtain property by deception, unauthorised possession of a firearm and drive while disqualified. The man will also face court for unrelated warrants.

He is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.
