Juvenile arrested following aggravated robbery

A 16-year-old juvenile will face the ACT Children’s Court this morning following an aggravated robbery at the University of Canberra Supermarket, Bruce on Saturday (March 18).

Around 4pm, two males entered the supermarket and took bottles of alcohol, which were placed in a zipped bag. When asked to wait for security to check their bags one of the males made threats to a staff member.

Both males left the store and a call was made to police.

Belconnen patrol members quickly arrived and located the two males walking away from the location. They were both taken back to the Belconnen Police Station and interviewed.

A 13-year-old male was interviewed and released from custody.

The 16-year-old male was charged with aggravated robbery, child/young person possess alcohol in public and damage to Commonwealth property.

He will face the ACT Children’s Court this morning (Monday, 20 March).
