Man charged with nine offences

A 26-year-old man will appear in the ACT Magistrates’ Court this morning (Saturday, 14 March 2020) charged with nine offences including several relating to stolen motor vehicles.

Police will allege that on Tuesday morning (10 March) the man assaulted the owner of a car in Cowlishaw Street, Greenway, and threatened the owner with a knife before fleeing with some stolen property.

A short time later, police allege the same man attempted to steal a motor vehicle from a car park on Howell Street, Greenway, but was disturbed while doing so by that vehicle’s owner.

Police will further allege that on the same morning the man stole a motor vehicle from a residence in Eileen Good Street, Greenway.

The man was apprehended by police about 2am Wednesday (11 March) when they observed him driving the vehicle he had allegedly stolen.   

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges including common assault, attempted aggravated robbery, theft, attempting to take a motor vehicle without consent, burglary, possession of an offensive weapon with intent, taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving a motor vehicle without consent, and breach of good behaviour obligations.

Police will oppose bail.
