Man to face court charged with fifteen offences

A 26-year-old Lyneham man will appear before court this morning (Monday, 4 April) charged with 15 offences relating to burglary, theft, traffic and property.

About 8.30am on Saturday (2 April), police responded to reports that a vehicle had rolled on Commonwealth Avenue and the driver had fled on foot. A number of items stolen on Friday and Saturday (1 and 2 April) were located in the vehicle.

Subsequent enquiries linked the alleged offender to the vehicle and the stolen property.

Following these enquiries, police located the offender at 11.30am (2 April), where he fled on foot and was apprehended while attempting to steal another motor vehicle.

The man will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning facing 15 charges including theft, burglary, aggravated burglary, unlawful possession of stolen property, drive whilst disqualified, drive motor vehicle without consent, attempt to take motor vehicle without consent, drive without proper control, fail to stop for police and furious/reckless/dangerous driving.

Police will oppose bail.
