Man to face court on drug trafficking charge

Arrested for drug trafficking

Members from Tuggeranong Police Station and Woden Police Station executed a search warrant at a residence in Narrabundah yesterday (21 July), as part of an ongoing illicit drugs investigation.

Police searched the residence at Gowrie Court, seizing a trafficable quantity of illicit drugs including LSD, cannabis and several variants of prescription medication. A sum of cash was also seized as suspected proceeds of crime.

At the conclusion of the warrant, a 26-year-old Narrabundah man was arrested at the residence and conveyed to the ACT Watch House. He will face court this morning (Saturday, 22 July), charged with traffic in cannabis.

Police will oppose bail.

Superintendent Rob Wilson from ACT Policing’s Family Violence, Community Safety and Intelligence portfolio said that ACT Policing is committed to preventing the supply of illicit drugs into the Canberra community.

“As police, we see the effects of drugs in our community every day. We see drugs contributing to family violence, to violence on our streets and to serious injuries and deaths on our roads.”

“Our targeting strategies focus on disrupting the chain of manufacture and supply of drugs in our community. To do this, we rely on the community reporting information about illicit drug use and supply in Canberra.”

“If you have information about illicit drugs please contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or via the ACT Crime Stoppers website,” said Superintendent Wilson.
