Man facing fifteen charges after Belconnen apartment car park thefts

Charged

After an ACT Policing investigation into thefts from vehicles in a Belconnen apartment complex in April, a 25-year-old Belconnen man will face 15 charges in the ACT Magistrates Court on Monday (17 May 2022).

On Sunday 3 April 2022, police received a report that the car park at a College Street, Belconnen apartment complex had been broken into, and six vehicles accessed. Bank cards stolen from some of the vehicles were later used to make several fraudulent transactions.

Investigations revealed the break-ins had taken place between 4 and 5am, and CCTV footage identified two offenders.

On 12 April 2022 a 29-year-old Holt man was arrested and charged with 16 offences including burglary, damaging property, minor theft and obtaining property by deception.

On Saturday (14 May 2022) police arrested the 25-year-old in Cook. He will face court Monday charged with seven counts of damaging property, four counts of minor theft, burglary, possession of a knife and failing to appear after a bail undertaking.
