Man reoffends one hour after being granted bail

A 35-year-old man has been arrested by ACT Policing after he allegedly breached his bail conditions less than one hour after being released from the Watch House. 

About 11.30pm on Thursday (23 February 2023), ACT Policing received reports of a man rummaging through storage lockers and acting suspiciously in the basement of an apartment complex in Canberra City.  

Officers arrested the man for unlawfully trespassing and he was transported to the ACT watch house where he was granted conditional bail about 4am. 

Less than an hour later, officers received reports that the same man had returned to the apartment complex and stolen a red Ducati motorbike.  

Yesterday (Monday, 27 February 2023) officers located the man in Reid where he was placed under arrest.  

He is set to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning, charged with burglary, taking a motor vehicle without consent, driving a motor vehicle without consent, driving while his license was cancelled and breaching his bail conditions.
