Melba man to face court on drug and weapons charges

A 33-year-old Melba man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Wednesday, 21 September 2022) charged with drugs and weapons offences.  

About 9.20am yesterday (Tuesday, 20 September 2022), detectives from ACT Policing Drugs and Organised Crime Team executed a search warrant at a residence on Sampson Close, Melba. 

During the search, police located a number of items, including two individual freezer bags containing a white powder (suspected to be cocaine); approximately $25,000 in Australian currency; two pairs of knuckle dusters; a large number of vials and containers of anabolic steroids, human growth hormones, and other prohibited substances; and other drug paraphernalia, including digital scales and clip seal bags.  

The man, who was present at the location at the time of the warrant, was arrested, and has been charged with two counts of drug trafficking, two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon, and one count of possession of property suspected to be proceeds of crime.  

He will face court today where police will oppose bail.
