Operation TORIC extradites NSW man to face ACT Magistrates Court

Op Toric Banner

Operation TORIC officers have extradited and charged a 30-year-old man who it will be alleged committed vehicle offences in the ACT before returning to his NSW residence.

In August of this year, a first instant warrant was issued for the man's arrest after he failed to comply with bail conditions in relation to previous driving offences (driving while disqualified).

On Friday, 14 October 2022, Operation TORIC officers were conducting patrols in Ainslie when they observed the 30-year-old man.

Officers attempted to remove the man from his vehicle when he erratically reversed his car and drove away, narrowly missing officers.

Police did not engage in a pursuit out of concerns for public safety, however members were able to maintain a line of sight on the vehicle.

The man was seen driving recklessly, including overtaking vehicles on the verge, overtaking multiple cars on solid lines, and cutting into traffic without notice.

Information led officers to locate the man that evening at a residence in Jerrabomberra, and the man was arrested with assistance of NSW Police.

On Saturday (15 October,2022) ACT Policing officers successfully sought an extradition order from Queanbeyan Local Court and the man was transported to the Alexander Maconochie Centre.

He is set to face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Monday, 17 October 2022) on charges of failing to stop a motor vehicle and dangerous driving.
