P-Plate driver caught 87km/h over speed limit

A provisional driver has been caught by police driving at more than 80 km/h over the posted limit. 

About 8:10pm on Monday (28 June 2021) ACT Road Policing were conducting speed detection duties along William Hovell Drive, Stromlo.

A 17-year-old male provisional driver from Macgregor, was stopped for speeding.

His white Holden Commodore sedan was detected travelling at 167km/h in an 80km/h zone.

The 17-year-old was issued an infringement for exceeding the speed limit by greater than 45km/h, which carries a fine of $1841 and six demerit points.

As a Provisional licence holder this accumulation of demerit points will result in his licence being suspended for a period of three months.
