Parcel thief charged

Facing Court

A 25-year-old Kambah man has been charged with theft following his arrest on Friday (30 April 2021).

Police received a number of reports in April of packages delivered to addresses in Gungahlin being taken. CCTV from a number of locations identified a man riding a motorbike at each of these locations.

Following enquiries by officers from Gungahlin Station, a man riding a ‘postie’ style motorbike was stopped in Bonner yesterday afternoon.

A short time later police conducted a search of the man, his motorbike and a home in Kambah.

A number of items were seized and the man was charged with theft. He was provided Watch House bail to appear in court on 14 May 2021.

The investigation into the man’s activities is ongoing and further charges may be laid.

Police are asking anyone who has recently had packages taken in the Gungahlin area to ensure they have reported these incidents to police. Anyone with CCTV of a man riding a ‘postie’ style motorbike (who is clearly not an Australia Post worker) are also being asked to provide this to police.

Anyone with information about the theft of packages in the ACT is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
