Police monitor Outlaw Motorcycle Gang ride

OMCG member to face Court following seizure of drugs, firearms, ammunition and explosives

ACT Policing closely monitored local and interstate members from the Nomads Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) while they were in Canberra over the weekend (9-10 September).

About 65 riders took part in a ride through Canberra organised by the Nomads Outlaw Motorcycle Gang. OMCG members from New South Wales and Queensland travelled to Canberra to take part. Members of other motorcycle groups and members of the public also participated.

ACT Policing’s Taskforce Nemesis and Traffic Operations monitored the activities of group over the weekend and while no antisocial or illegal activity was reported to police, an OMCG member was detected travelling at 148km per hour in a 100km zone.

Members of NSW Police Force’s Strike Force Raptor charged a 24-year-old Nomads OMCG associate for allegedly driving while suspended, and issued a red-label major defect notice. In addition, a suspension notice and seven traffic infringement notices were issued to Nomads OMCG members as they rode through NSW to and from the ACT.

Members of the public are urged to report any suspicious activity to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
