Police release CCTV footage of suspicious vehicle fire

ACT Policing has released CCTV footage to assist in identifying two people involved in a suspicious fire in Rivett last month.  

About 12:40am on Wednesday, 22 December 2021, ACT Fire & Rescue and ACT Policing attended Angophora Street, Rivett and extinguished a fire that had engulfed two vehicles.    

Police are now releasing CCTV footage of the incident to assist in identifying those involved.   

The footage shows two people approach the vehicles parked in the front yard of a home in Angaphora Street, Rivett. They pour a liquid on the vehicles, and set fire to both the vehicles and the surrounding grass before running off. 

Both people in the footage are seen wearing dark clothing, hats and face masks, with one wearing a distinctive hoodie with the brand “Balenciaga" in white lettering across the back. 

Anyone who can identify either of the people in the CCTV footage, or anyone who witnessed the incident who has not yet spoken to police, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Please quote reference 6993737.
