Police release CCTV of property damage incident in Amaroo

ACT Policing is seeking to identify the offender from a property damage incident that occurred on Katherine Avenue in Amaroo on Thursday, 20 April 2017.

About 9.30pm, a man entered an ACTION bus and began a discussion with the driver. The male then exited the bus, picked up an item and threw it at the vehicle. The item connected with the glass paneled door which broke. The male then left the area on foot.

The male is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his early to mid-20’s, with short light brown hair. He was wearing a black hooded jumper and denim jeans.

Officer in Charge of Gungahlin Station, Station Sergeant Rod Anderson said he is disappointed to see this type of crime.

“ACT Policing treats incidents of property damage very seriously. It doesn’t matter if the damage is to personal property or a business and their assets, acts of vandalism have consequences.”

“Police have followed a number of lines of enquiry and now are appealing for assistance from the public to identify the alleged offender,” Sergeant Anderson said.

Director Public Transport Operations, Ian McGlinn said, "Transport Canberra are dedicated to providing a safe service for their passengers and staff. Destructive behavior, such as this, is illegal and will not be tolerated by Transport Canberra.”
