Police respond to mental health incident

ACT Policing has responded to an incident that occurred at Brindabella Park this afternoon (Friday, 19 September 2014).

Around 3pm this afternoon, ACT Policing responded to a report that a man, armed with an axe and molotov cocktail had driven his vehicle into bollards at a building at Brindabella Park.

The man was arrested at the scene by police. He is being assessed as possibly suffering from mental health issues.

During the arrest, an AFP officer sustained an injury and is currently receiving medical attention from the ACT Ambulance Service.

There are no national security concerns regarding this incident.
