A search warrant conducted yesterday has uncovered a significant amount of stolen property and resulted in one man being charged.

The operation began following information provided by a member of the public regarding a person allegedly selling stolen items via social media sites.

Enquiries by general duties officers from Woden Police Station led to the securing of a search warrant for a property in Blueberry Street in Kingston.

The search warrant was executed yesterday afternoon (Sunday 8 August 2021) and police located a significant amount of property believed to be stolen.

Recovered items included a red Honda motorbike, a Nissan Skyline, multiple electronic devices, a significant number of power tools, ammunition and other items. Cash suspected to be the proceeds from selling stolen property was also seized.

The estimated value of the stolen property is in excess of $100,000.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the residence and charged with possession of stolen property and possession of ammunition. He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday 9 August 2021). Enquiries are continuing and additional charges are expected.

Attending police noted that while some recovered items had identifying marks on them, many did not. People are urged to label items or record serial numbers to assist in the return of recovered stolen property.

Anyone that has information about the location of stolen property that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website. Information can be provided anonymously.
