Turner man caught travelling at twice the speed limit

A 26-year-old Turner man travelling at twice the posted speed limit in Barton is more than $1800 poorer after being caught by police on Friday night (8 July 2022).

At about 10pm on Friday, ACT Policing officers initially observed the man travelling at excessive speed on Eastlake Parade in Kingston. 

Police then intercepted the Mazda 6 at Bowen Drive in Barton where they detected the man to be travelling at 120 km/h in a 60km/h zone. 

The driver, who had two passengers in his vehicle, told police he was in a rush to get to his next shift. 

His rush meant he was issued with an $1841 fine.
