Two to face court after vehicle thefts

A 22-year-old NSW man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with driving two stolen vehicles.

On 22 June, police saw a man driving a blue Honda Civic in Tuggeranong. Police identified the vehicle as having been stolen during the burglary of an address in Campbell on 12 June. Police lost sight of the vehicle and it was located later the same day burnt in Tharwa.   

On 23 June, police recognised the same man driving a silver Ford XR6 in Wanniassa. Later the same day, police located the vehicle parked in Fadden. Police identified the vehicle has having been stolen from the driveway of an address in Macquarie on 22 June. Police approached the parked vehicle and the driver was apprehended and taken to the ACT Watch House.

The 22-year-old NSW man was charged with two counts of driving a stolen vehicle and will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.

Police investigations are ongoing.

In a separate incident, a 31-year-old Palmerston man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with vehicle theft.

On the morning of Friday 23 June, police received a report that a green Ford XR8 utility had been stolen from a car park at the Dickson Shops. Police investigated and located the vehicle parked at an address in Kambah later the same day. During the early hours of this morning (24 June), police arrested a 31-year-old Palmerston man and took him to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with taking a vehicle without consent and another charge of unlawful possession of stolen property.
