Two juveniles arrested on weapons charges

Two 14-year-old teenage girls were arrested in Tuggeranong yesterday (Monday, April 21) after police received reports of anti-social behavior.

About 5.10pm, police attended the waterfront area near McDonalds in Greenway and found a group of juveniles defacing the jetty on Lake Tuggeranong.

Police searched two female juveniles and found two concealed matching kitchen knives with 20cm blades.

The two females were arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House where they were charged with various offences.

One juvenile was charged with defacing public property and possession of knife without reasonable excuse. She will face the ACT Children’s Court on 4 May, 2014.

The second juvenile was charged with defacing public property and possession of offensive weapon with intent. She will face the ACT Children’s Court on 22 May, 2014.
