Two men to face court following driving incidents

Facing Court

Two men will face court following separate incidents on Saturday and Monday.

About 11:20pm on Saturday (3 July 2021) ACT Road Policing officers were conducting speed enforcement duties on the Monaro Highway at Hume when they detected a Harley Davidson motorcycle travelling at 101 km/h in the 80 km/h zone.

After being stopped by police, the rider produced an ACT learner rider licence and he underwent a road side alcohol screening test. The result of that screening test was positive.

The rider was taken into custody and conveyed to Tuggeranong Police station where he provided a sample of his breath for analysis. The result of the analysis was 0.117 grams of alcohol per 210 litres of breath.

The rider was served with an Immediate Suspension Notice, suspending his ACT licence for 90 days. He will be summons to attend Court at a later date.

About 8.20am yesterday morning (Monday, 5 July 2021) a male driver who had bail conditions not to drive any vehicle, was stopped by police in Greenway.

He subsequently returned a positive drug screen to methamphetamine. He was arrested for drug driving and breach of bail.

This is the fourth drug driving matter this man has currently before the Court. Following his appearance in the ACT Magistrates Court today, he was remanded in custody.
