Witnesses sought to aggravated vehicle theft incidents

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses or information following a number of aggravated vehicle thefts that have occurred in the Belconnen area recently.

About 9:50pm on Wednesday, 24 March 2021, a man was approached by two men in Florance Place, Macquarie. The men allegedly assaulted the man and threatened him with a knife. The men then fled the area in the man’s vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered by police at a carpark in Aranda.

About 11:50pm on Friday, 26 March 2021, a pizza delivery driver was approached by a number of men in Bandjalong Crescent, Aranda. The group allegedly assaulted the delivery driver then fled the area in his delivery vehicle. The vehicle was later recovered by police at an underpass in Chifley.

About 10:50pm on Monday, 12 April 2021, a man was approached by another man in Banambila Street, Aranda. The man was allegedly threatened with a knife and the assailant then fled the area in the man’s vehicle. This vehicle was later recovered by police in a carpark in Macquarie.

Police believe these incidents are linked and likely to have been conducted by the same group of people. 

The people involved are described as male, 20 to 30 years of age, about 180 cm tall, Caucasian in appearance and they were wearing dark clothing with dark masks covering their faces.
