Witnesses sought; Ainslie home invasion

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses after an elderly man was assaulted in his Ainslie home yesterday (Sunday, April 5).

About 6am, a male knocked on the door of the elderly resident's home on Piper Street, Ainslie. The man demanded additional payment for painting a number on the driveway which he had been paid for about 7am the previous morning (Saturday, April 4). When the elderly man refused to provide any additional payment, the man forced entry into the home, assaulted the elderly man and took his wallet.

The ACT Ambulance Service attended and transported the man to The Canberra Hospital for treatment of minor lacerations.

ACT Policing attended to examine the scene and investigations are ongoing.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident at 6am on Sunday morning in Piper Street is urged to contact ACT Policing on 131 444.

Police are also urging anyone who has been approached by a man offering to paint numbers on their driveway in the Inner North over the weekend or during recent weeks to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
