Woman charged following police pursuit

Charged with driving offences

A Braddon woman who turned 30 today will face court following a pursuit early this morning.

About 3.40am today (Monday, 13 December 2021) police observed a blue Holden Commodore in Braddon that had been reported stolen.

The Commodore was then sighted by police travelling south through Canberra suburbs on the wrong side of the road, not stopping at red lights, exceeding the speed limit and generally driving erratically.

At about 4.00am, police successfully deployed ‘stop-sticks’ while the vehicle was travelling on Clift Crescent in Richardson. The Commodore continued driving on deflated tyres and eventually no tyres, finally coming to a stop when it collided with a traffic sign in Were St, Calwell.

A 30-year old woman was arrested at the scene and charged with fail to stop, drive without a licence, drive vehicle without consent, aggravated dangerous driving and not stop at a red light.

The woman is expected to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Anyone with information about vehicle thefts that can assist police is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.  Information can be provided anonymously.
