Woman to face court for assaulting a frontline community worker

Facing court

A 24-year-old woman is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court next month on one charge of assaulting a frontline community worker.

About 6.20pm on Saturday (5 September 2020), ACT Ambulance Service attended a residence in Turner.

The woman obstructed ACT Ambulance Service paramedics from treating an injured person and police were called to assist.

On arrival, police took hold of the woman’s arm to prevent her from interfering. The woman was requested to stand back to allow ACTAS the space to provide care to the woman being treated.

The 24-year-old again lunged at ACTAS paramedics.

Police restrained the woman who allegedly spat into the face of one of the officers several times.

The woman told police she was infected by the Corona Virus.

She was arrested and taken to the ACT Watch House and is expected to face the ACT Magistrates Court next month.
