ACT records seventh road fatality for 2021

Seven people have died on ACT roads this year

About 1:00pm last Thursday (22 July 2021), a vehicle collided with a tree on Hopetoun Circuit, Yarralumla.

ACT Policing, the ACT Ambulance Service and ACT Fire & Rescue attended the collision.

The driver, a 92-year-old Yarralumla man, was taken to hospital with significant injuries.

Sadly, the driver was unable to recover from his injuries and he died in hospital yesterday (Saturday, 24 July 2021).

ACT Policing’s Major Collision Team is investigating the circumstances of the incident, and a report will be prepared for the ACT Coroner. Hopetoun Circuit was closed for several hours on Thursday while investigations were carried out. Police would like to thank motorists for their patience during that time.

This is the seventh death recorded on ACT’s roads this year. Our thoughts are with the man’s family at this difficult time.
