ACT Policing arrested a 20-year-old woman following an attempted aggravated robbery at Caltex Service Station in Calwell this morning (Friday, 23 September).

About 12.45am, the woman entered the service station and demanded cash from the attendant while stating she had a knife.

A witness who had just left the store called police to raise the alarm.

When the attended refused her request, the woman mounted the counter and grabbed the attendant’s hair, pulling it towards her.

The attendant pressed the duress alarm and the woman made further requests for cigarettes before running out of the store towards Webber Crescent in Calwell.

Police arrived found her hiding in nearby bushes. She was arrested, cautioned and taken to the ACT Watch House.

The woman will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning charged with common assault and attempted aggravated robbery. Bail will be refused.

We remind people they should not report crime information via our Facebook and Twitter pages.
