Crime scene established following an aggravated robbery in Gungahlin

About 4.45am this morning (Monday 5 March 2018) members of Gungahlin patrol responded to a report of an aggravated robbery in progress at the Gungahlin Marketplace.

Upon police arrival, two men attempting to flee the scene were apprehended by police.

During the apprehension, one of the men assaulted a police officer, causing him to be transported to hospital for treatment.

Detective Acting Superintendent, Adrian Craft said anyone who assaults our police officers who protect our community will be charged and will face the ACT Magistrates Court.

A crime scene has been established at the Gungahlin Marketplace as investigations continue.

The 33-year-old Monash man who assaulted the police officer is likely to face court in the near future charged with assault and property offences.

It is likely the Gungahlin Marketplace and surrounding area will experience some disruption to pedestrian and vehicular traffic this morning.
