Disqualified driver arrested following collision and pursuit
ACT Policing has arrested a 29-year-old Theodore man following a southside pursuit last night (Wednesday, 30 April).
Around 11.30pm, traffic patrols observed a Ford Falcon sedan travelling west on Johnson Drive in Calwell with no rear number plates.
Police activated emergency lights and sirens, however the driver failed to stop and accelerated away from police through the suburbs of Calwell and Theodore.
The driver lost control of his vehicle and has collided with a tree on Porteous Crescent in Theodore.
The driver, uninjured, exited his vehicle and fled on foot west across Tharwa Drive and into the Calwell playing fields.
Police chased the man before he was arrested and taken into custody.
The man was charged with a range of traffic offences including driving while disqualified, using an unregistered vehicle, using an uninsured vehicle, performing burnouts, dangerous driving and failing to stop.
He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.
