Disqualified driver to face court after fleeing from police

A 66-year-old Hughes man will appear before court today after fleeing from police, early this morning (Friday, 4 December).

About 12.50am police were conducting a mobile patrol when they observed a white Holden Commodore sedan travelling on Monaro Crescent in Griffith. Police attempted to intercept the vehicle.

The vehicle drove at speed along Flinders way, failing to stop for police.

The vehicle continued to accelerate away along Murray Crescent, when the driver attempted to turn left onto La Perouse Street and lost control of the vehicle, coming to rest on the incorrect side of the road. The driver was apprehended.

The man is expected to be charged with a range of traffic offences including driving while disqualified and dangerous driving.

He will appear in the ACT Magistrates Court this morning.
