ACT Policing would like to remind everyone to drink responsibly and remain COVID safe.

After an extremely tough year with devastating fires, hail, and COVID, ACT Policing acknowledges Canberrans are ready to let their hair down this summer.

ACT Policing is reminding licensees and their patrons to consume and supply alcohol responsibly, as well as this year complying with COVID-safe requirements.

Officer in Charge of City Police Station, Detective Inspector Adrian Craft said police want to see people enjoy themselves responsibly and safely in licensed premises this summer.

“We want all Canberrans to enjoy themselves, and remaining compliant with COVID-19 requirements,” Detective Inspector Craft said.

“Party safely, drink responsibly, stay in control of your behaviour and look out for your mates, otherwise you might end up in the watch house and miss out on the celebrations.

Members of ACT Policing’s Territory Targeting Team will be conducting both alcohol and COVID compliance checks on licensed venues all across the ACT.

“It is a criminal offence to supply alcohol to an intoxicated person – this applies to licensees and staff of licensed premises, but also to members of the public who provide drinks to intoxicated friends who may have been refused service,” Detective Station Sergeant Craft said.

“If you attend a restaurant or licensed premises remember to check in with your real name so that if something does happen, authorities can contact trace.

ACT Policing will have a visible presence around Canberra entertainment precincts each week, routinely patrolling licensed premises to identify any problem areas or people.
