Family Violence Unit activity sees multiple charges laid

Arrested

ACT Policing’s Family Violence Unit (FVU) is continuing to proactively investigate and target family violence offending in the ACT - with a further two people arrested in the past 24 hours.

Yesterday (Tuesday, 16 May 2023) police conducting bail compliance checks identified two men at separate locations who were allegedly in breach of their family violence bail conditions.

A 22-year-old Belconnen man and a 44-year-old Florey man were found to be in the company of their partners. Both were arrested and charged with breach of bail, with the 44-year-old man also being charged with contravening a family violence order.

In the last two weeks, the FVU has made three arrests for warrants, two arrests for breach of bail, two arrests for outstanding wanted offenders, arrested a man for contravening a family violence order, and another woman for obstructing and assaulting Police during the arrest of her partner.  Additionally, an arrest warrant has been granted for a person contravening a family violence order with Police pursuing avenues of inquiry to locate him.

The FVU has also assisted general duties officers with information leading to multiple arrests for outstanding family violence offenders.
