Man approaching students in Woden Area

Can you help?

ACT Policing is investigating recent incidents in the Woden area where several children have been approached by a man attempting to entice them into a vehicle.

Police have received reports of a man approaching students before and after school in several Woden suburbs. As a result of these reports there is an increased police presence in and around these suburbs.

ACT Policing is seeking to identify the man who is described as Caucasian in appearance, aged in his late 30s to early 40s with dark hair and a deep voice. He is approximately 170cm (5’7”) tall and of slim build. On some occasions the man was wearing a light grey tracksuit, t-shirt, black puffer-style vest and a black beanie.

ACT Policing is working closely with the Education Directorate. This a good time to remind everyone to help our children understand the importance of stranger safety and the importance of reporting any unusual approaches immediately on 131 444 or in the case of emergency, Triple Zero (000).

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
