Man arrested after Lyneham pursuit

A 19-year-old Dickson man will face ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Saturday, 22 March) after fleeing from police yesterday (Friday, 21 March) morning.

About 11.55am, police identified a blue Ford Falcon Station Wagon with stolen number plates on Dorrit Black Crescent, Lyneham.

Police attempted to stop the car but the driver fled police. A pursuit ensued that did not exceed speeds of 80km/hr.

Members of the public assisted by indicating the direction the car was travelling.

A short time later police searched the surrounding area and found the man hiding in bushes on Fairweather Circuit, Lyneham. The car was located nearby where it had collided with a fence.

The man was arrested and transported to the ACT Watch House. He has been charged with multiple serious traffic offences and Failure to appear after bail on a First Instant Warrant. Police will oppose bail.
