Man charged after allegedly sending threatening messages to former partner

A 26-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow after he allegedly breached a family violence order by sending threatening messages to his former partner.

Last night (Saturday, 8 June 2024), the man’s former partner contacted police after she received several messages and phone calls from the man.

Police spoke to the woman and observed the threatening calls and messages she had received.

About the same time, the man was separately taken into custody by police in Canberra City due to his aggressive and intoxicated behavior.

He was arrested a short time later and charged with contravening a family violence order. He is due to appear before the ACT Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday, 10 June 2024).
