Man charged with aggravated robberies in Amaroo

ACT Policing has charged a 26-year-old Amaroo man with aggravated robbery offences following two incidents this month.  

About 7.20 pm on Sunday, 1 August 2021, a man entered a pharmacy at Amaroo. He was allegedly armed with a knife and demanded medication. Staff complied, and the man left the location riding a bicycle.

The second incident occurred about 11.10am on Saturday, 7 August 2021. A man again entered a pharmacy in Amaroo, allegedly armed with a knife and demanded medication. Staff complied, and the man again departed on a bicycle.

Following an investigation by ACT Criminal Investigations detectives, a search warrant was executed at a home in Amaroo yesterday (26 August 2021) and a 26-year-old man was subsequently arrested.

He was charged with two counts of aggravated robbery and two charges for failing to comply with a health direction.

He is scheduled to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court today.

Anyone who witnessed the incidents who has not yet spoken to police is urged to come forward.
