Man charged with child sex offences

ACT Policing’s Sexual Assault and Child Abuse Team (SACAT) have arrested a 45-year-old man following an investigation into his alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old girl. 

Police will allege that the man abused the child at his residence in November 2023. 

The man was arrested at his residence in Canberra’s North about 3.00pm yesterday (Sunday, 10 December 2023). 

He is expected to face court this morning (Monday, 11 December 2023) charged with two counts of sexual intercourse with person over 10 years but under 16 years, one count of aggravated sexual intercourse with person over 10 years but under 16 years, and one count of act of indecency in the presence of a person under 16 years. 

The investigation into this matter is continuing and additional charges may be laid.

There is no statute of limitations for sexual offences in the ACT. It doesn’t matter how much time may have passed and it is never too late to report.
