Man extradited from Victoria to face court

Facing Court

A 38-year-old man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today following his extradition from Victoria yesterday.

In September 2020, the man had been found guilty of several aggravated burglaries, ride/drive in a stolen vehicle and an aggravated robbery.

He was sentenced to 4 years imprisonment but was referred to rehabilitation through a drug treatment order.

He absconded from the rehabilitation facility after one day and a warrant was issued for his arrest. He was subsequently arrested and directed back into the rehabilitation facility by the Court. The man again absconded from the facility soon after.

Earlier this year he was arrested in Victoria and pled guilty to multiple property offences he committed while in that state. He was released from Victorian custody after serving his sentence on Friday (18 June 2021).

He was arrested by Victoria Police upon his release and was successfully extradited to the ACT yesterday.

The man has also been charged with theft and aggravated burglary relating to offences he allegedly committed in the ACT after absconding the second time.

He is scheduled to face the ACT Magistrates Court today.
