Man to face Court after Red Hill surrender

A 39-year-old Banks man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning (Monday 6 March 2017) after police negotiated his surrender in a unit block in Red Hill yesterday (Sunday 5 March 2017).

About 10am, police were alerted by a resident, that a man had barricaded himself inside a unit after an argument, where he had allegedly assaulted the resident with a weapon. 

The victim managed to flee the apartment and alert police.

Police attended the location and established a cordon around the unit. Police then successfully negotiated the safe and peaceful removal of the man who was taken into police custody.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning on charges of forcible confinement, possess offensive weapon with intent and two counts of assault occasioning actual bodily harm.
