Man to face court after vehicle break ins

Facing court

A 23-year-old Narrabundah man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today following two vehicle break ins and the theft of a vehicle between 1 and 2 March 2017.

During the early hours of Wednesday 1 March, an offender broke into a home in Griffith and stole a number of items including a vehicle key. The key was then used to take a silver Ford Territory from the address.

Between 10.30am and 12pm on 1 March, an offender broke into a vehicle parked in Deakin by breaking the driver side window. A number of items were stolen from the vehicle, including a driver’s license, phone and watch.

About 7.55am on 2 March, police were called to a vehicle fire in Narrabundah. ACT Fire and Rescue attended and extinguished the blaze. Police then identified the vehicle as the stolen silver Ford Territory.

ACT Policing’s investigations into these incidents lead to the arrest of the 23-year-old man at a Narrabundah residence yesterday afternoon (Friday 28 April).

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today in relation to charges of theft, driving or riding a motor vehicle without consent and property damage.

ACT Policing’s investigations are ongoing to establish any links with further vehicle break ins or property crime.
