Man to face court for attempted robbery in Fyshwick

A 31-year-old Wanniassa man will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Thursday, 1 February 2018), following the attempted robbery and stabbing in Fyshwick on Friday, 19 January 2018.

It is alleged that about 10.40pm in the carpark of a fast food outlet on Canberra Avenue and Nyrang Street, a male assaulted a female by shocking her with an improvised electrical weapon, before attempting to steal her handbag.

Friends of the female came to her assistance, one of whom was then stabbed by the male. The male fled on foot.

The man has been charged with possess/use a prohibited weapon without authorisation, attempted aggravated robbery (offensive weapon), intentionally wound and contravene family violence order.
