Man to face court on firearms and drug offences

OMCG member to face Court following seizure of drugs, firearms, ammunition and explosives

A 28-year-old Kingston man will face the ACT Magistrates Court this morning after he was arrested on the Federal Highway, Watson around yesterday (Tuesday, 5 June 2018).

ACT Policing is aware of growing tensions within the Comancheros, and believe several recent incidents within the ACT have occurred as a result of these tensions. Investigations of these incidents by Taskforce Nemesis, resulted in a targeted operation overnight.

During this operation, Taskforce officers, General Duties and Criminal Investigations members, located and stopped a silver BMW 328i on the Federal Highway.

During a search of this vehicle police located a sawn-off rifle, ammunition, balaclavas, gloves and black clothing, a sheet, and a substance believed to be methylamphetamine.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court charged with possessing a prohibited firearm, possessing ammunition, and possessing a drug of dependence. Police will oppose bail.

ACT Policing would like to hear from any witnesses or drivers who may have dash-cam footage of last night’s activity on the Federal Highway.
