Man to face court following dog attack on police officer

A 35-year-old Rivett man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Monday, 2 July 2018) following a theft of a mobility scooter and subsequent dog attack on an officer.

About 9.40am yesterday (1 July 2018), officers attended a residence on Lomatia Place, Rivett in relation to an alleged theft of a mobility scooter from the Cooleman Court shopping centre on Wednesday, 27 June 2018.

Whilst at the residence, the offender’s dog attacked officers causing serious injuries requiring the officer to be transferred to hospital.

The animal was seized by Domestic Animal Services.

The man has been charged with theft, cause harm to Commonwealth public official and three counts of cause grievous bodily harm. Police will oppose bail.
