Man to face court on threat to kill charges

Facing Court

ACT Policing’s Proactive Intervention and Disruption Team arrested a 31-year-old Spence man yesterday (4 September 2020) during an operation using negotiators and Tactical Response.

Police will allege the man committed an aggravated burglary on Tuesday night in Kambah.

The man and his co-offender arrived at the residence in a stolen blue BMW 3 series.

The men tied up the victim and poured a substance believed to be petrol on the victim before threatening to set him alight.

The 31-year-old man and the co-offender left the location, taking a black Ford Ranger belonging to the victim and other items.

The black Ford Ranger was recovered at the man’s address on Wednesday by the Proactive Intervention and Disruption Team. The blue BMW 3 series was recovered in Queanbeyan on Wednesday afternoon.

Police believe the blue BMW 3 series was also used during a firearm incident in Dickson on Wednesday. Investigations into this matter remain ongoing.

The man will face the ACT Magistrates Court today on charges including drive/ride in a stolen motor vehicle without consent, intentional threat to kill, aggravated burglary, theft and use explosive substance in circumstances dangerous to health. Police will oppose bail.
