Man to face court for traffic and assault charges

A 29-year-old man from Narrabundah will face the ACT Magistrate’s Court today (Friday, 23 February 2018).

About 1.30pm yesterday afternoon (Thursday 22 February 2018) police were conducting mobile patrols in Narrabundah when they observed a vehicle drive to an apartment building and park. It is alleged the driver (and sole occupant) of the vehicle then got out of his car and walked away, telling police he wasn’t driving.

The male refused to provide a roadside breath screening test and he was taken into police custody. Whilst being taken into custody the male tried to pull away and a struggle ensued.

At the City Police Station, the male underwent a breath screening test. The man was subsequently charged with Drive motor vehicle with alcohol in breath, Refuse to undergo screening test, Drive while right to drive suspended, Common assault, Obstruct/ resists Territory public official, and use unregistered/ suspended vehicle. His bail was refused at the City Watch House.
